The kids were very excited to place the seed pods in their designated spots within the garden. Then we then we took our time counting how many cups of water it took to fill the water tank. Afterwards, we added in some special nutrients to help our seeds grow and be healthy. Each child got a turn to help and they all did a great job.

Herb Garden
This week the kids got to help plant an herb garden in the 2-3 year old classroom. Thanks to a generous family at the school, we've got an AeroGarden to grow fresh herbs! It was fun and easy for the kids to help and they are so excited to watch the plants grow and taste something new.

J.R. Organic Farm and Big Tree Little Preschool
We are happy to announce that JR Organics farm and BTLP have TEAMED-UP! We couldn’t be more excited about our new collaboration. We will be working with JR Organics farm to help promote healthy eating and education about organic growing and composting.
The farm is located on the beautiful rolling hills of Valley Center and has been in business for over 50 years. In 1986 they received their Certified California Organic Farm Certification (CCOF).
During the month of April, the children had the opportunity to try new vegetables and make fresh salads for afternoon snack with veggies provided by the farm!
If you would like a Newsletter from JR Organics please sign up with Rebecca. They’ve got great recipe ideas! Or visit their website at http://www.jrorganicsfarm.com

Rainbows, Rainbows!
For the week of April 23rd the letter of the week was "R". The kids in both classrooms did lots of fun activities involving rainbows! The kids made rainbows out of watercolors, fruit-loops, paper-chains and cotton balls. It was a colorful week!
There were books about rainbows...
And colorful activities in the 2-3 year classroom that we used to review colors in English and Spanish and count up to 30!

Sipder-Man's Big Day! Happy Birthday!
The kids got to help their friend celebrate his 5th birthday at the school this month. Everyone enjoyed themselves a lot. There was a Spider-man Pinata as well as cake and ICE CREAM! It was so much fun.
Earth Day Activities
Earth Day is April 22nd. To help celebrate our planet and increase awareness about "being green" students in both classrooms have been participating in activities focused on the three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
We made painted our planet, Earth and danced ourselves silly to "It's a small world after-all!"
Check out the activities going on at Balboa Park at http://www.earthdayweb.org/EarthFair.html
The Earth Day activities continued this week in the 2-3 year classroom. The kids got to make little green houses of their own to watch seeds germinate and grow.
