Two Days of Dr. Seuss

Last week was Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2nd.) So, in honor of Dr. Seuss we dedicated 2 days of activities to him!

Yesterday we watched "Horton Hears a Who!" We made Horton's clover with "Whoville" on it. Today the kids read "Green Eggs and Ham." They cut Dr. Seuss bookmarks, and made a Cat in the Hat picture.  They made their very own "Green Eggs and Ham." We played Green Eggs and Ham Tic Tac Toe, and watched "Green Eggs and Ham" on the computer. You can find several books online here at Barnes and Nobles:

Nature Hike on 3/4/2011

Today we discovered that the "Owl House" which has been vacant for 3 years, now has a tenant! We were too loud and woke him or her, and we all were able to see a beautiful owl as it flew off! Now that our "Nocturnal" friend is living in the Owl House, we promise to be quiet when we walk by.

"P" is for Pig, Plant, Pegasus, Popcorn, Pink, Purple, Princess, Playground...

This week the kids did an excellent job of coming up with different "P" words each day. As the week went on their "P" words were more and more creative. Today we heard all about the "pretty, purple, pail" that one of the kids colored. We even heard "Perry the Platypus" (also known as Agent P.)

The kids spent their week finger painting with pink paint, writing the letter "P",  painting Pigs in Mud, reading the "Three Little Pigs" and "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs," as written by A. Wolf.  They ate pancakes (thank you Teacher Barbara!) on Thursday, and created Pig Faces on Friday.

Below are a few of the Favorite Books from this week (the ones that the kids begged us to read again and again...)

"O" is for Opposites

We are learning all about opposites this week! We have been reading some fun books that introduce the concept of opposites. Be sure and ask your child about the "opposites" they have learned.

The kids created some beautiful Black/White pictures that are now decorating the classroom. They look like professional abstract designs! Come and take a look!
